That said, I loved Inception’s score. It easily made my top one Hans Zimmer score list.

I’m sorry, but James Horner doesn’t belong in the same book with John Williams, much less the same sentence. Elfman is okay, but hardly notable for memorable melodies. Heck, I can hum a half-dozen good Zimmer melodies to any one of Elfman’s. I also wonder how much of the “sameness” of Zimmer’s music over the last 7-9 years is imposed from above: when given the opportunity (Sherlock Holmes, for example), he can still pull out some astoundingly original stuff.

Anyway, sorry, I like your site and your comics and I have a deep, abiding, passionate loathing for Horner’s corpus, but I won’t take up this whole comment feed with my rant at the fellow. (I’m sure he’s nice and all, but his music enrages me.)

Back to reading funny stuff, now!

:) Oh, come on, man – Batman? The Simpsons? Kidnap the Sandy Claws?

-Elfman’s Batman theme vs. Zimmer’s – is anyone going to remember a minor third 25 years from now?

-I’m not actually all that familiar with Horner’s work; probably should have put Howard Shore there instead.

-Zimmer’s score to Sherlock Holmes kind of spoiled the movie for me, actually…so let’s file this one under “de gustibus non est disputandum”!

    Thanks for reading, man!
